Just a tidbit or two from our homeschool

My great big plan of action lasted from late August to the end of December.  Since the new year we have been kinda floundering in our "sit-down" school.  There has been lots of life learning, but not much for hands-on sit-down stuff.

I wanted to share with my readers, because I know many of you are interested, what we are learning!

Last week was chess.  The girls decided they wanted to know how to play.  So I typed in "how do you play chess" and I found this site called Chess For Kids.  We only went through the very basics; there is so much to learn and know.  They got enough from what we watched that they were able to play by the rules for a while.  (The very basics didn't even tell us the point of the game though - to protect the king.)

Sunday night, Kristyn said to me that she wanted to learn to type as well as I could.  So I said, "Well, there's this great website that teaches you. (BBC - Schools - Dance Mat Typing - Home)  Here, try this."  And she just jumped in and did a number of lessons and couldn't wait to get started again the next morning.  Cora also did a couple of lessons.  They are really enjoying it!
