I have my settings so that others online, who are not on my friends' list can contact me. I don't get too much spam or strange people contacting me, so it has not been an issue. Today a person popped up on my screen, asking if I was a doula. I said that I was not. And the person apologized for bothering me, but I was intrigued. So I asked a question or two and I got short answers back. And she apologized at least once more for intruding on my day. I kept asking questions. Strange for me really.
As the conversation progressed, she told me that she was in labor, that the contractions were 3 to 4 minutes apart and that she had called her midwife, but she hadn't arrived yet and would I stay on the computer until she arrived.
I gave a couple of pointers and responded to her comments. I got her to squat and her water broke. I had her walk around as she could. She seemed to feel like pushing, so I told her to do so. By the time her midwife finally arrived, the baby was crowning.
It was the most incredible experience! I haven't heard back from her (I didn't expect to yet) to know how things went; I hope she will contact me again, once she is settled with her new baby. It is her first child. I have been praying for her over the course of the rest of the afternoon and evening.
I never would have thought I would have such an opportunity to help someone that I know nothing about!
Striving to learn and live God's purposes,
