I am so excited to re-organize and declutter my filing cabinet. Thursday night is "my" night. Survivor is on and DH is gone to his fire practice/meeting. So I make sure that everyone is in bed on time, if not early, and I sit at my compute, read, or watch TV all by myself. (Watching Survivor, of course.) Well this last week, Baby R was sleeping especially well and everyone else stayed in bed so I thought I'd get a start on my files, thinking that I'd get one or two done.
Well, I surprised myself. I started reading around 8 PM. I read the whole chapter (the fourth week of March) and started getting rid of paper. And, by quarter to 9 (when Survivor starts) I was on a roll. So while I watched, I continued to work through the top drawer during commercials. If the file was something I used regularly - household expenses, personal files, etc - I marked a hanging file for it. If there wasn't an obvious hanging file I felt up to making - for example, homeschooling is going to be a BIG category and I don't know how to divide it up - then I just moved it to a lower drawer. That may not be the best method, but my top drawer only contains files that are organized and used regularly.
I mentioned that I had a system for my in and out / to do and done. Well, Regina Leeds' is better. I will be making and including the files in my top drawer, when I get back to it. This week FLEW by!!! I can't believe that it is over already! So, even though I'm not done all four drawers and three file boxes, I have a great start and I'll work at the rest of the files and paper as I can.

I'll be starting Week One of April - the bathroom. EEWWWW! Not looking forward to this. It's a HUGE project that I'll have to get DH on board with and . . . . who knows.

On another note, in an effort and desire to save more money, dh has seriously mentioned fixing my oven. I can make my own bread again, and cookies and pizza. I can't believe that I've been almost a year without an oven. We were going to buy new but just can't put that money out. (Watch for posts about Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.) So, I'm crossing my fingers that dh looks at that problem with the oven this week. No nagging, or he'll just "forget". :) Just cross fingers. :)
