Eight years ago today I gave birth to my very first baby. I was so very sure that I was having a boy. I called this baby a boy all through my whole pregnancy. J was sure that we were having a girl and laughed at me every time I said he or him. This dear baby GIRL arrived the day after my due date.

K - 2005

K's name came about as a compromise between my dh and I. I wanted to call her Christy, just as my parents had wanted to call me, but didn't due to a cousin being named something very similar (and happened to be born the day before me). But my dh didn't like the name Christy at the time. So I agreed to a change.

K is a wonderfully strong personality. She and I can really clash heads but not as much as we used to. K has become such a great helper. She is dependable and independent. She can't wait until she is old enough to care for her younger siblings so J and I can go out.

She loves horses and baking right now. Those are her main interests. She has asked for a cake decorating set. When she's baking cakes from a box, I don't have to help her at all! She can make burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, soup from a can, pork and beans, mac and cheese.

K is really enjoying choir and dance classes this year. She learned to read and is learning to draw really well. I am so thankful for the other teachers in her life.
