Thankful Thursday - Early mornings with our own schedule

I am a morning person.  I know I may get a few virtual tomatoes thrown my way for saying so, but that's me!  I love mornings and I really like Mondays.  (Well, I used to when Mondays were Mondays around here.  Now I never know when my weekend will really happen.)

Anyway, since dh has been working crazy wild hours I decided that I needed to get on a schedule that works for me, while being flexible enough to get to spend time with him when he is home.  My plan has been to be in bed between 10 and 11 and up around 7 (I'd really like to be up by 6 but I know my pregnant body needs that extra hour of sleep right now).  This morning, it worked!

And I am loving it!  I got a quiet time to read my Bible and write this blog post and check my email.  I got to do most of my morning routine uninterrupted.  I hear Baby R up in her bed talking quietly to herself or to her sleeping brother who is next to her on the floor.  She's called out to me a couple of times, but nothing urgent.  Very soon I'll go and wake my sleepyheads and we'll get going on the day.

Secondly, I am thankful that we homeschool.  I am thankful that I can start our day when I want to start our day.  Last night I made those kids clean up the messes they'd created until 9PM!  They went straight to sleep last night.  I only saw them once after they were sent to bed!  (Normally I see them up to five times or so!) I'm thinking I might do it again.  I am thankful that I can make our life work for us and not have to run some other person's schedule.  Even dh's job allows for this.

I try to get up early as well. On days when i successfully wake up at 6 I am able to read my Bible in the peace and quiet of the morning, I'm able to blog a little, and get my shower in before my kiddos wake up. My days tend to follow the pattern of how they started, so I'm really striving to start out well!

Wonderful list of thanks! God bless!
