It’s the little things and WOW gifts

I am quite sad but happy too.

I am sad to say that other things have had to take the priority of my kitchen renovation.  We have to have a new deck.  This one is crumbling more and more as time passes and is just unsafe now.  The trailer needs to be built so that we can haul fire wood for the fall, to cut on heating costs.  DH is not working steadily and our savings are being used to purchase groceries and the supplies for the other items listed.

To counter this sadness and disappointment I have decided to embrace my kitchen in the basement.  I had DH buy hooks so I can put up my curtains.  I made curtains for another home we lived in and they have been sitting in boxes in our storage area.  I bought the fabric and sewed the curtains.  The sewing is nothing spectacular, but they work and I. like. them.  And that’s what matters.  The colors make me smile.

The second thing is entertainment in my kitchen.  I had none.  I’d love to have a computer (with internet access) in the kitchen, but that’s just not possible at this time.  About 4 years ago, for Christmas, DH bought me what I call a WOW gift.  It’s one of those things that you ask for, don’t expect to get and when you do you are so, very, excited.  All you can say is WOW!!!!  This was my WOW gift.  I’ve had a few of these gifts, but they are few and far between.  (And, personally, I think that’s best because that way they don’t loose their impact.)

So what’s this WOW gift?  An under the counter CD player / radio.  I have been enjoying John MacArthur’s podcast messages and haven’t listened to as many as I would like because there is always something else playing.  I can now go to the kitchen and work there and listen and learn.

So we are just doing little things to make the kitchen a little more pleasant to be in.  And that makes me . . . smile

Striving to learn and live God's purposes,
