DreamBox Learning K-3 Math – A Review

I was contacted about doing a review of DreamBox Learning K-3 Math.  As a homeschool mom who is always looking for new and different ways to teach my children, I jumped at the chance.  I am so glad that I did.  My girls (M – age 5, C – age 7 and K – age 8) loved the time they spent on the site.  They would beg to have their turn and were so upset if one girl got her turn and there wasn’t time for all three of them to work on the math everyday!
I liked how much fun the games were.  I liked to play on the fair more then doing the lessons.  I found it really easy to use.  I did not have to read the instructions because the characters told me how to play each game.  I wish my mom had bought a subscription to it so we could play it more.  ~~ K, age 8.
DreamBox Learning is not just for homeschoolers.  The public school system is also able to use this program to help their students grasp the concepts they are teaching in the classroom.  And parents can use this system to keep track of how their children are doing as well.  The parent dashboard is so simple and easy to read and understand.  After each child finished a half hour time on the games I was able to track what they’d accomplished and at what grade level they were working.  For me, grade level isn’t such a big deal, but it sure helps put others’ fears at rest when I can say, '”look, this is what they are working on and this is what level this program says they are at.”
DreamBox Learning was fun!  I kept changing my character so she looked different every time I played.  I loved that I had a secret password to play the games.  The games were fun and I really liked the dinosaurs most.  And I mostly mostly liked the fairies and the fair.  There is so much to do.  I was able to open all the games except the tadpole game.  I’m very very disappointed about that.   ~~  C, age 7.
DreamBox Learning K-3 Math is more than just math games and instruction.  There are so many resources for parents and teachers.  There is a parent newsletter, printables and downloads, and a quiz to identify your Edu-Parent Style.  You can also sign up for a free trial.
It has pirates and fun stuff.  And feed the animals.  And put the frogs in the pond.  Hit the balloons.  Click on the balloons and then they pop.  Hit the bottles.  I love it a lot!  And I got to put pigs in the pen.  And they would run away when I tried to put them in their pens.  And then I pushed HELP!  And they ran away again.  ~~ M, age 4.5
The subscription rate is decent for what you get, in my opinion.  For the Family Fun level (subscriptions for up to 4 children) is 19.95 for a month or 99.95 for 6 months.  Had we continued and purchased a subscription we would have chosen the Family Fun option.  If you only have one student, you could choose the individual pricing which is 59.95 for 6 months or 12.95/month.  I did not look into the classroom pricing, you can find information on classroom pricing here.  They also have a money back guarantee.  If you don’t think  your child is benefiting and learning, they will refund your money; see the website for the specifics.

Although we have chosen not to subscribe to DreamBox Learning at this time, I will definitely keep this site in mind for the future and recommend the program to other parents.

I received a one month free trial in exchange for my honest review.
