It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

213

I can’t believe that another week has passed so quickly!  With all the wedding stuff and other things that came up this week I didn’t get very much reading done.  I am off to find my books and take a look at where the bookmarks now are placed so that I can update you!

Ok, I only got a little sidetracked by the Father’s Day card the children gave their dad, and a diaper or two that needed changing and a book that needed reading to Little W.  But I’m back with the week’s reading accomplishments!

Fascinating Womanhood – I think this book became my biggest focus this week; I read from page 64 to page 102.  The chapters were about appreciating your husband, admiring your husband and the different roles given to men and women.  I am part way through the roles chapter and hope to get back to reading the rest tonight.

Managers of Their Homes – I skimmed the remainder of the book and did not read as thoroughly as I had been previously.  I got the main idea of what was to be done in the first 80 pages.  What I have is working for us, when we actually follow the plan.  Today we get back on the plan!

Little House in the Big Woods – We are now on page 177.  We read 33 pages last week.  The older three girls are loving this book and beg for more than one chapter every night.  I have decided that I will only read a chapter to keep them interested.

One Year to an Organized Financial Life: From Your Bills
to Your Bank Account, Your Home to Your Retirement, the Week-by-Week
Guide to Achieving Financial Peace of MindI did not read any more of One Year to an Organized Financial Life.  I will get back to reading this one this week.  Also, I never reopened The Birth Book until just now to see where I was reading!  The Magician’s Book is another that was neglected in the busy-ness of this week.

Finally we get to my latest read – the one I started last week – Bringing Up Boys – I didn’t get as far as I would have liked in this book this week, but I did read a few pages.  I got to page 17 this week.  I was able to read while the children and I waited in the bus when J was fixing his truck.  I like taking a book with me in the vehicle when we go places.  You never know when you will have a few minutes to read while waiting.

Managers of Their Chores (Managers, 1)

This coming week I hope to go to the park with the children at least one afternoon.  I will take a book with me and I hope to meet with my friend so we can discuss Bringing Up Boys and what we’ve read already.  I have Steven and Teri Maxwell’s Managers of Their Chores that I hope to get started on as well.  I don’t know if I’ll get there though with all the others I have on the go.

I agree with you-sometimes you just have to know when to quit a book.

You have lots going on! I miss the days I used to read Little House On The Prairie books... maybe someday I will have little girls in my life I can read them to.

You've got a lot of books on the go! I've often got 2 or 3 books going but no more than that.

Happy reading!

I love the fact that you're meeting a friend at the park for kid-playtime and to discuss what you're reading. It's wonderful to have women friends with whom to discuss books and parenting.

Little House in the Big Woods, one of my all time favorite series, may have to share that one with my new niece after she grows a little, don't know if my grandson will like them, but I may try.
