Kindle, Nook, iPad, or something else????

I have no desire to own an eReader such as Kindle or Nook.  And after reading this post at Simply Modern Mom, I have not changed my mind.  I would consider owning an iPad but not solely for it’s eReader capabilities.  ( I have a tinge of regret in buying an “off” brand mp3 player rather than biting the bullet and purchasing an iPod.)

I guess I’m just too old-fashioned.  I like to have a book in my hands, and that I can turn the pages.  I just can’t imagine curling up with my Nook or Kindle.

I do see the benefits for sure.  There’s no way I could cart thousands of books with me in my vehicle but I can with one of these gadgets.  However not being a massive reader (I only read a couple of books at a time) I don’t see the need of it for me.

I have been given eBooks to read and review.  These are the last ones that I read and review.  I just can’t sit at my computer and read a novel.  I want it in my hands.  I’ve even gone out and purchased a book given to me as an ebook because I wanted to read it so badly but I couldn’t force myself to sit at my computer to read it.  (What book did I purchase, even though I’d been given a copy??? C. L. Talmadge’s Outcast.)

However, here is an option that I believe is really do-able and would probably “hook” me in to purchasing a Kindle.  Check out this post by Seth Godin.  I hope they jump onto this and run with it!

So what do you choose?  Nook, Kindle, iPad (or other Apple product) or just an old-fashioned book?

I only read hardcopy books, but if I were seeking an electronic reader I would go with the ipad or itouch simply because they are multi purpose. With these items you not only get the reader feature but you can access the internet with a wifi connection, you can listen to music, you can download movies or TV shows for yourself or children, you can download apps, use the calendar, take notes, apple is just very feature rich. But if you would go that route make sure whatever version of windows you have is compatible.
