Spent a part of my Mother's Day coloring with my kids; pencil crayons needed lots of sharpening. Also learned that some pencil crayons are not nearly as good as others. Choose your brand wisely. Note: do not choose ENCORE brand. :)

I totally agree. Personally, I will only purchase Laurentian or Crayola for the cheaper pencil crayons. I find that the cheaper ones seem to break inside the wood quite frequently and we always had to sharpen half the pencil away it seemed. We used to have one of the pencil sharpeners like you have pictured and it lasted for quite some time.
