We’ve been reading a lot about the early Bible times, including ancient Egypt, Greek Mythology and Jewish practices. Here are some books that are on our shelf right now:
Jason and the Golden Fleece I’ve never been interested in Greek mythology, but I wanted the kids to get a taste. The pictures in this book are very well done. I haven’t read any of it yet.
Ancient Egypt: A Guide to Egypt in the Time of the Pharoahs (Sightseers) (I love this series!) We own a Sightseers book about Vikings and so I purposely went in search of the one for Ancient Egypt.
What the Bible Is All About for Young Explorers: Based on the Best-Selling Classic by Henrietta Mears This is one that I want to put on my wish-list. I love how it is organized and the simple terms the author uses. It’s not just for “young explorers” in my opinion. I plan on looking through this material a little more for the purpose of furthering my own education and understanding.
You Wouldn't Want to Be a Pyramid Builder!: A Hazardous Job You'd Rather Not Have This is such a great book! Lots of little tidbits of information!
Ancient Egyptians and Their Neighbors: An Activity Guide Not sure how many activities we will do (there are a number of activity guides on the shelf right now), but it will give some direction to their crafting. I’d love to see them actually create something either useful or something that displays what they are learning and reading about.
Spend the Day in Ancient Egypt: Projects and Activities That Bring the Past to Life (Spend The Day Series)
Tower of Babel I plan on reading this one to them; just a simple picture book. It looks pretty good.
Egyptian Pyramid (Building History) I’ve read enough books about pyramids lately; this one didn’t do it for me.
How the Bible Came to Us (Lion Factfinder) This one would be interesting if a person was interested in the topic. I think. I didn’t really like the way it was laid out.
Striving to learn and live God's purposes,
