Two More Poems I Wrote In High School

OUR FRIENDSHIP
A lively spring
A mysterious fog
A glorious storm
A peaceful rain
A blooming garden
A bright sun
A lengthy second
Our friendship,
a strange accomplishment


Friendship As A Rose
A Rose: the flower so pretty
             the thorns can hurt.
A Rose: so pretty and yet painful
A Rose: overlook the thorns
             work through the pain
             the flower still lovely
Friendship: the good times
                 the arguments
Friendship: wonderful and yet painful
Friendship: work through the pain
                 overlook the wrongs
                 the friendship, still lovely


What a trip back in time.

Thanks, Gabby, for sharing those with me.  I just  might dig out my notebooks.  I just might start writing poetry again!

A Poet?

At one point in my life I wrote poetry.  I’ve never shared any here, that I can remember.  My friend, Gabby, sent me an email of some poetry I’d written when we were in high school together.  I believe I will share a few over the next few days / weeks.

 

What You Are
To me you are a tall strong tree,
A tree to lean on
A firm place to stand.
To me you are a mighty river
A river flowing through the lives
Of those around.
To me you are a roaring lion.
A lion proclaiming that Christ is Lord.
To me you are a faithful friend,
A friend who cares just how I am.
Each and everyone of these
Is what I feel that you are to me.

 

I went to type “by LaDonna Harris” but then I was like, well, I wrote these as LaDonna Salmond, so which name do I put on them??  Anyone know??
