The evening routine greatly affects the morning routine.

a mom blog community

This month I am working on re-working my daily routines.  The morning routine is very very important to my day.  If I leave my room without being dressed to shoes, my whole day is thrown off.  If I don’t get dressed first thing, I end up sitting at my computer for the majority of the day.  I do not get housework done; I don’t run for errands; I don’t exercise.  So each evening, in addition to a shower, I am finding that I MUST lay out my clothes for the next day.  I can’t  just think about what I’m going to wear, it has to be lying there in a pile waiting to be put on.  And my shoes have to be right there too.

My morning starts like this:

  1. get dressed to shoes
  2. take the puppy outside
  3. do my hair in the bathroom
  4. swish and swipe while there (new addition to my routine)
  5. workout with Wii for 30 minutes

From there I do any number of things: change a diaper, turn on the computer, check email, start coffee, get breakfast, start the laundry or dishwasher, pull out supper.  Once the work out is done, the day is begun, the children are up and I’m on the go.

What does your morning routine look like?  Do you think about the things that you do in the morning?  What about at night?  How does your evening routine affect your mornings?

I am pretty neurotic with morning routines. I start at 5am!!! I work in the US so the commute takes me forever. I get all of my things ready the night before (clothes, lunch, etc) that way I can relax and eat breakfast and have a cup of coffee.
My mornings are pretty much the same. Husband thinks I'm nuts when I get flustered that my routine gets screwed in some way...but I am never late to work ;)

I fixing to start implementing a morning routine. I'm currently making my Household Notebook, so I'm working on a master schedule for the entire day. Though I know they are bound to change a hundred times so that fit my needs perfectly. :)
