The fire department had a 6 minute response time.
The departments that responded included: Cherhill, Sangudo, Blue Ridge , Mayerthorpe.
Within 10-15 minutes of my call to 911 a fire fighter was
breaking a window.
The first fire fighter in had a heat gun to read the
temperature. The first and only attempt
to enter (as far as I know) the temperature read 800+ degree. No fire fighters entered the building.
They saved both sheds (one was a tarp shed) that were only
feet from the house.
Mayerthorpe Fire Department returned to their fire hall at
10:30ish the next morning. They were on
scene for about 13 hours.
The outside temperature that night was between -25 to -28 C.

I am so glad that you and the children are safe and that there was someone nearby so you all didn't have to be outside without shoes and coats for very long in that temperature!
