Striving to learn and live God's purposes,
Okay, while I’ve been spending a lot of time in my chair and on the couch, I’ve been reading a lot of blogs. Here are some gems I’ve found in the past couple of weeks.
Join the Maximize Your Mornings Challenge – it has already started, but it’s not too late to jump in! Here’s another link to the Maximize Your Mornings Challenge – Consider This Your Wake Up Call.
Why Moms Need Mission Statements
A Dirty Little Secret – One day I will have this dirty little secret too!
I am keeping this next one for a great reference. I actually need to print out this list and put it in my homeschool planning file. Homeschool Supplies List.
Striving to learn and live God's purposes,
That my timing is just off. Now is not the time to make some major changes or commit to challenges. So the two challenges I started and only did a post or two are the Maximizing Your Mornings and the Completing Him Challenge. I think these are great challenges and really wanted to participate, but at this time in my life I just need to do the next thing. I may very well need to work on these areas, but right now is not the time. I think most would agree.I need to get my sleep when I can and not schedule it. I feel like just getting the basics done is more than enough. Once we are settled into life with our new baby and settled into a good school / MOTH routine that works for us, then I think I can tackle something else. So for now, I’m bowing out of the Maximize Your Mornings Challenge.
I need to get up before the kids; this is going to be hard, especially with a new baby. It may be too high of an expectation, but I think life with a new baby will flow better if I make an effort. I am joining in this challenge.
I have been getting up around 7:30 to 8 and going to bed between 10 and midnight. I plan to go to bed around the same time but get up just a little earlier this week at 7AM. By the end of the month I hope to be getting up regularly at 6:30 and trying for earlier in the coming months. Even getting up this early, I will probably have my two youngest getting up with me. I will have to occupy them. Not sure how yet, because I’m really bad about turning off the TV once it goes on. I can put R in her exersaucer and W can probably play Legos or something at the table.
My biggest obstacles in the morning will be keeping the momentum going. The computer (email and facebook) suck my time. I plan to stay away from the computer (specifically those two items, as we us the computer for school) until after lunch. My other momentum stealer is me sitting at the computer for meals. The children sit at the table while my husband and I sit in the living room (me at the computer and he at the TV. We claim it is downtime during the day, but for me it becomes draining time because it drains the momentum from the day.
I want my mornings to move right into the MOTH schedule we have laid out. The children and I have been working so much better when we are on schedule and everyone knows what is happening when. They get to do the fun things they want to do and I get the chores done that I need to have done. It’s a WIN-WIN-WIN situation. (I threw the third win in for DH, because he’s happier too!)
